When I went through a severe depression a while back, I found the Book of Job oddly comforting. Here is a man who, through no fault of his own, went through a terrible time. We know the reason for it, but he didn’t. After a maddening and unproductive exchange with his friends and his wife, he finally gets an audience with God to ask, Why is this happening?
