Letting go

The spiritual theme this week is letting go of old things and looking forward to the new.

A fitting passage from my second-favorite book in the Old Testament:

Remember not the former things,
    nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I am doing a new thing;
    now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
    and rivers in the desert.

—Isaiah 43:18-19

The God of our past can still do new things.

A 102-year-old doctor says the key to her longevity is letting go of things that no longer serve. She describes a hand gesture that facilitates the mental act of letting go.
